Brethren

Hard to believe that it is already June and we are already halfway through the year. As you know we are going “dark” during the summer months. I believe those Brothers who want additional practice can make arrangements to continue with our Degree work through the summer and meet with their Instructors on other nights or outside of the Lodge. I know, speaking for myself, that this year has been busy is an understatement. Also, as you know we have an Outdoor Degree coming up in July and we have visitors from other Lodges visiting, so we need to make the time to make sure we have our degree work in order.
Besides that, enjoy your summer, spend this time with your family, Brothers and friends and get ready for a busy fall at your Lodge.

Brethren

Many of you have been here in the Wardens Chairs and have to write something for the Trestle Board. So what I am about to say might not surprise you. I thought and looked hard to add something and just thought “Man I have got nothing”. So I will add something a little more personal of “What is on my mind and heart”

As Masons we are to help distressed Worthy Master Masons but what does that really mean? I look around my life and I see many that are distressed. Financially, wives are sick, or the Mason themselves are sick, personal struggles and just overall general LIFE. Most men and Masons will not admit or divulge that they are struggling. Call it Pride, Honor, Old School or whatever. I believe we need to keep on the watchful eye for ways to help each other and still let them keep their pride and honor. I know I was raised to honor your parents and In general someone that is older than you. No matter how they act to keep our selves with in due bounds. Many times we look at society today and think that still is not the case, but I have been around enough youth to know that it is still there. Society has just gotten bigger and the kids that are disrespectful are just more prevalent. I just know I pray for our Lodge, the Masons and their families, Society, and our Country. Like I said, really didn’t know what to say, just had to say what was on my mind and heart.

With that, here is a quote from George Washington
“Being persuaded that a just application of the principles, on which the Masonic Fraternity is founded, must be promoted of the private and public prosperity, I shall always be happy to advocate the interests of the Society, and to be considered by them a deserving brother.”

POOF Just like that February is Gone.

Seems like I just wrote this article. Been a very busy month. Since I am the one that is tardy in getting this in I will make it short. We have some Degrees coming up and I am looking forward to them and bringing more men into the Light of Masonry.

Hopefully this year will give our newer members a chance to get their ritual  tuned to get in the line and really make Three Great Lights the Lodge it has the potential to be. As many of you know I started in the line, but was called to things that pulled me from devoting the time needed. Two years ago I ran into WB Brian Beaudin and casually mentioned I would be willing to help and step in where ever the Lodge needed. Less than 24 hours later WB Greg Gilbert called on me to step up to JW. I agreed. Little rough at first, (sometimes really rough) but we are getting there. As I make my travel to the East I would like to work on all our Officers in the line on getting the Basic Proficiency. This is important and we can help each other in getting there. I was told to study the chair ahead of where I was just in case I had to jump in. That is good advice and I advise when you get your chair down, start working on the next. It makes life much easier when the time comes. It is amazing how much you learn by just watching and listening to what the officers say and do. As you move up the line as Stewards and Deacons there is nothing more important than rod work. It can make the floor work look so perfect especially when it is done in pairs and both, either Deacons or Stewards, move as one. I look forward to serving the lodge this next year and will do all I can to help those that are wanting to get in the line and progress through the chairs and become Master.

Brethren,

As we move on to February I want to start by saying how grateful I am to be working directly under WM Steve Booth. I have known WM Booth for many years and have always had much respect for him, but you never totally know about someone until you start working with them. I have to say I am impressed as he has a vision of what he wants and will do all I can to support him. We also need to support our JW Chris Smith by coming to the Valentines Day Dinner at the Lodge on the February 14th. I will see you there and it should be fun.

This year has started out a little rough with the weather, but I am sure as the light begins to lengthen our day we should look for was to take advantage to shine more light in Masonry. Physical light when it shines gives warmth and helps things grow, as we should be trying to do. We can shine the light on others in the Lodge and help them grow as men and Masons. Plus we can be shining examples of Masonry in our community.

One of the things we are going to be working on is our communication. As we all know the world is changing and the types of communication vary. We are working on getting regular updates on the website, Facebook page and continue with the other avenues that we use. There is a growing interest among Millennials regarding Masonry. With the Facebook page we can share and learn. This will also help with quick updates that need to be announced.

Much more to be discussed and looking forward to the New Year.

God Bless all, and wish everyone a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Brethren,
Another year just is done! My, how quickly it went by. It’s a New Year, and wanted to thank everyone for a great year, 2016. It was a quick and busy year, and am looking forward to another fantastic year of 2017. I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Christmas and New Year with their friends and family.

From my heart I want to thank you for electing me Senior Warden - I am honored and will do my best to try and fulfill the duties of my position and “do-right” by the craft and those that served before me. Moving to the West, I am looking forward for the opportunity to support Worshipful Master Steve Booth in the East. I would also like to congratulate Worshipful Brother Greg Gilbert (PM), for his stewardship in the East, guiding our beloved Lodge through another year of challenges, while ever maintaining our high standards of ritual. I want to thank the many Brothers for their support throughout the year. As the new Senior Warden, I feel I’m leaving the South in the very capable hands of Brother Chris Smith, our New Junior Warden. I consider my time in the South a privilege, there were many helping hands along the way with Brothers ever ready to step up and help. I would like to congratulate all the Brethren who were appointed to their offices. I am very excited and look forward to working with them as well as the brethren in the upcoming years.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Installation of Officers on Sunday 12-04-16. We had large turnout at the Grand Masters visit and another large turnout at the Christmas Dinner.

Thank You again for giving me this opportunity to serve as Senior Warden. It is indeed a great honor and privilege to serve Grants Pass Masonic Lodge #84 AM & FM through the 2017 Masonic Year.

God Bless all, and I wish everyone a healthy and prosperous New Year.

November 12 the Jobs Daughters had an official visit and initiation ceremony we had Daughters visit from four different Bethels. They did some OUTSTANDING Ritual work. The only lodge member that came was WB John Rall thank you John . We took in one member her name is Jaci.  I hope to see more lodge members come visit Bethel, we meet the second and forth Monday at 6:00.  One of the Dads of from Bethel 13 has submitted his petition for the degrees of Masonry it should be read at the December stated meeting. This is a great example of how important our youth groups are to Masonic membership.

On December 20 at 6:00 we are planning an evening of Caroling.  Please bring your wife.  The Job’s Daughters are planning to join in the fun evening.  We are planning a chili feed after caroling.

December 4th at 2:00 will be the Installation of Officers for 2017 at Grants Pass Lodge.

There will be a practice on the 2nd of December at 7:00 pm. I would like to have all Officers it should only take about an hour.

Best Wishes for a Merry Christmas!
